The Michigan Department of Treasury released a notice on March 17, 2020 extending the filing and payment deadline of sales, use, and withholding taxes for returns ordinarily due on March 20, 2020. For those taxpayers required to file sales, use, and withholding tax returns on that date, a 30-day waiver of penalty and interest has been granted. These returns can be filed and paid to the Michigan Department of Treasury by April 20, 2020 with no interest or penalty. This protection does not apply to any returns due after March 20, 2020. It is also not available for accelerated sales, use, or withholding tax filers.
